(Ctrl/Option ensures that you will leave a flat face on the back of the frame, and not make a hollow shell.) To pull out the window frame, activate Push/Pull and press Ctrl (Option on the Mac) and pull out the frame face. Make it small enough so that several rows and columns of windows can fit in the wall. In the lower-left corner of the front wall, draw the basic window shape by using a rectangle and an arc, erasing the dividing line between them. Paint the front and back faces, if you want. Keep in mind, however, that after you start a new Move or Rotate action, or activate a new tool, you can no longer adjust the spacing, angles, and so on.ĭraw a rectangle and use Push/Pull to pull it up.Įrase a side wall so that you can see inside (right-click on the face and choose Erase). For both kinds of copying, you can make these adjustments as many times as needed while the tool is still active. For linear copies, you can adjust the spacing and number of copies, and for rotated copies, you can adjust the angle between copies and the number of copies. ![]() For both tools, when you press the Ctrl/Option key, you will make copies. (Plus it never hurts to review some basics.)Īs you probably know, the Move tool is used to move objects, and the Rotate tool is used to rotate objects. Even some experienced users don’t know all there is about how to copy, which is a fundamental and important concept. ![]() If you’ve done any basic work with SketchUp, you might already be familiar with the concepts in this chapter. I was pretty much happy with 8 until 2015 came along, so I guess I can chug along with it for what I need to do.This chapter covers the various ways you can make linear and rotated copies by using the Move and Rotate tools. But nowadays it just seems like too much trouble, I just want to live each day with minimum hassles. But I have been building my own computers for many years, and while I certainly do not claim to be any sort of an expert (on this or anything else) I have always sort of enjoyed troubleshooting problems with them. I suppose, as Box suggested, it may be something to do with my rebuild of this computer. I do still have it on my other Win7 computer and my laptop, so I guess if I do need the increased capabilities for a specific model I can always fall back to them. They were working fine, everything was eventually working fine, and then yesterday they, among other things, stopped working, and 2015 pretty much went down the toilet. Yeah, I redid all of my shortcuts right after I installed 2015. You need to redo all the shortcuts that are not working in order for them to function alright. Something as significant as losing shortcuts and tool tips would normally have popped up on one of the forums by now, but I've not seen it before.Įly862me wrote:Be aware that Sketchup 2015 imports your older Sketchup shortcuts, but due to the renaming of the Plugins section to Extensions, most of the shortcuts won't work. So perhaps it's not a SU problem you need to sort out. I think I confused myself just trying to type that. You can paste forward, SU8 To 2015 because the newer version is backward compatible but the old version isn't forward compatible. Things made in 2015 won't paste into SU8 in the same way a 2015 file won't open in SU8. To the best of my knowledge, which admittedly isn't that great, you can't copy and paste backwards. You could even install the 32bit version and see if that works to see if it is a 64bit issue. There is a new update, maintenance release out today that might fix it. Is this the computer that you have recently put together? Any chance some driver or setting somewhere is blocking the keyboard and tools tips in the 64bit section and allowing them in the 32bit. Hellnbak, that sounds more like an issue with your system rather than a problem within Sketchup itself. ![]()
